Pulling Together

team work pulling together

Today, I had the privilege of speaking to a group of tech professionals, among them a senior executive who had unfortunately been subjected to a recent layoff.

Feeling frustrated and confused, they were singled out. They all claimed to be strong performers, but companies make strategic decisions based on factors like team restructuring, discontinuing underperforming products, or letting go of individuals deemed as lower performers. Unfortunately, this group fell within the unfortunate bottom 10-15% chosen for downsizing by their respective companies.

The uncertainty of job security is a constant concern when working for someone else, as you never know when the threat of a layoff may arise.

Tech professionals, join forces and collaborate to overcome disheartening and stressful situations. Starting successful projects offers protection and the freedom of self-employment. Utilize your technical expertise to create a blog, earn affiliate income, and take on consulting projects. Sharing resources minimizes the risks of solo work.

Sometimes meeting a group of people with a common interest, and a common problem, spurs creativity.

I’ll keep you updated on the team’s progress. If you’re worried about layoffs, check out my blog post on minimizing layoff exposure.
